WOMAN SHOT DURING WEST SIDE GAS STATION ROBBERY

CHICAGO-Charges are pending against a robber who shot a 55-year-old woman at a gas station on Chicago's West Side, police said.

The man allegedly walked up to her at a BP gas station in the 600-block of South Independence Boulevard just after 4 a.m. Wednesday, demanded money and shot her in the leg.

Police said he took off running after shooting the woman, but an officer patrolling the area spotted the suspect and caught him.

The woman was taken Mount Sinai Hospital, where she is listed in good condition.
