Coroner seeking relatives of fire victim in Pascagoula

PASCAGOULA, MS (WLOX) - The Jackson County Coroner's office is seeking to identify the relatives of a 30-year-old woman who died in an apartment fire Friday night.

According to Coroner Vicki Broadus, officials are still trying to contact the relatives.

The woman died of smoke inhalation after a blaze broke out in a ground floor unit at Palms Apartments on Catalpa Avenue in Pascagoula, according to authorities.

The coroner determined the woman died of smoke inhalation after her body was found inside her ground-floor apartment at The Palms apartment complex on Catalpa Street in Pascagoula.
“If someone has a 30-year-old female relative who was living at that apartment building and they can’t reach her, I need to talk to them,” Broadus said.

Broadus can be reached by cell phone
Unless someone comes forward tonight, Broadus said she will be checking various offices that hold public records as soon as they open Monday morning.
Authorities know who the woman is, she said, but don’t want to release her name until her next of kin are notified.
The Sun Herald updates this story as soon as new information becomes available.

Her identity is not being released until family members can be notified.

The cause of that fire is still under investigation. Broadus said, the woman's family members can contact her at 228-219-0450.
